Features Overview

Stages of Healing Collection:

Iera Odos Core Samples of the Anthropocene Era

stages of healing

Stages of Healing parodies futuristic Anthropocene Era core samples. I fossilize different and otherwise incompatible post-consumer plastics in tinted eco-resin and slice them into discs of variable size. The disc shapes mimic geode-likeness and add an element of surprise when cut open.

My visual narrative is often self-referential with the added caveat of intersecting marginalized positions such as, disability and intergenerational trauma; colonialism and resource exploitation; or geography and global pollution.

Stages of Healing lend themselves well to the appearance of clustered cellular forms, a reminder of our connection and dependency on the natural world.

Strange Evolution Sculpture:

Logger’s Jewels (detail)

strange evolution

Strange Evolution is a simulacrum of sculptural objects made of single use plastics, beauty product packaging, and weathered marine debris.

The mundane objects are re-imagined as outlandish replicas of marine-like entities, providing as visual metaphors of recovery from plastic pollution.

The process of taking garbage out of the waste stream is a transformative and humbling experience — that small changes in innovation and perspective can also serve as a powerful reminder not only to re-evaluate our relationship with discarded materials, but also emphasize the importance of protecting eco-systems and its biological diversity.
